My name is Michael Dowling. I’m a software development engineer at Amazon Web Services where I work on the SDKs and Tools team. Our team is responsible for providing web service clients and tools developers can use to more easily integrate their applications with Amazon Web Services. During my time at AWS, I shipped a major rewrite of the AWS SDK for PHP, worked on the AWS CLI and Boto, and created various internal tools used within AWS (written in Java and Ruby).

I enjoy creating open source software. I created Guzzle (a very popular PHP HTTP client), various implementations of JMESPath, and git-secrets. I’ve recently been getting into Rust.

I live in Seattle with my wife, my cat, and my wife’s dog (which I guess makes it my dog too).
